Climate Change Advisor – Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA)

Term: 1-year contract, possible extension for additional one.

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree/advanced degree (natural resource management, environmental science, related)
  • Five years of international work experience (natural resource/environment- related field, preferably GHG inventory, land use carbon accounting, REDD+)
  • Living/working internationally on REDD+/natural resources management
  • Technical/policy issues pertinent to development/implementation of REDD+ policies/programs
  • GHG inventory experience from forestry/land use
  • Technical coordination/leadership with interested parties, across cultures/varying capacity
  • Program management/monitoring, climate change, biodiversity conservation, constructive engagement with African institutions (including land management agencies, NGOs, universities, research institutes)
  • Leadership, coordination ability, “team player” spirit
  • Organizational skills (organizing/facilitating meetings, workshops, report writing)
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Inter-personal/communication skills
  • Experience living in developing country
  • Team work/flexibility to respond to unforeseen circumstances
Special Requirements:

- Effective written/oral communication skills in English.
- Some travel within Zambia/the region/the US required
