TITLE: GHG Operations Manager
REPORTS TO: ERM CVS Head of Climate Change
OFFICE BASE London

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

To ensure that the processes for delivering global greenhouse gas (GHG) validation and verification services are fully implemented across all activities undertaken by head office and regional delivery teams; and drive continuous improvement.
 
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage and develop the team of Client Account Managers within ERM CVS’s climate change business, with responsibility for project delivery on time and on budget, and to the required quality, operating from proposal initiation to project completion;
• Lead the tracking of GHG validation and verification projects through ERM CVS’s systems and drive timely completion from all involved parties;
• Work with global ERM offices to ensure smooth and appropriate implementation of resourcing and delivery of ERM CVS projects;
• Participate in the ERM CVS climate change leadership team;

KEY COMPETENCIES – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge
• Post Graduate degree level qualification in relevant subject matter and/or substantial relevant work experience
• Knowledge and understanding of the CDM, with awareness of other GHG carbon trading/carbon offsetting programs an advantage
• Understanding of systems and processes and their effective implementation
 
Skills
• Excellent organisational skills with proven success in developing and implementing effective delivery processes to achieve tight timelines
• Excellent communicator at all levels of the organisation and across different cultures
• Proven management and people development skills
• Able to recognise root causes of inefficiencies, identify corrective actions and drive completion
• Ability to coach others in project delivery requirements
• Fluent English speaker with clear and concise written and spoken English
 
Experience
• At least 5 years relevant professional experience, including
o Building and implementing internal processes in a multinational setting
o Team leadership and people development experience
o Strong project management and delivery experience
o Commercial operations management

TITLE: CDM Technical Reviewers
REPORTS TO: CDM Business Manager
OFFICE BASE: Flexible
 
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
 
To ensure the technical quality and compliance of CDM validation and verification projects delivered by ERM CVS to the UNFCCC.
 
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
• To review validation and verification reports prepared by delivery teams and confirm compliance with the requirements of the CDM and/or other GHG schemes
• To provide feedback, training and coaching to delivery teams to drive continuous improvement in the quality of ERM CVS deliverables;
• To act as lead validator/verifier on projects, particularly for complex projects
• To act as a mentor or coach for new validators and verifiers in training
• To work with the ERM CVS global technical review team to develop effective technical tools, templates and guidance for CDM delivery teams

KEY COMPETENCIES – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


Knowledge
• Post-graduate science, engineering or environmental qualifications (Masters or PhD)
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the CDM and the requirements of the CDM Executive Board
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of GHG validation and verification processes
• Detailed knowledge of at least one CDM Technical Scope. Applicants with at least 3 years direct experience in a specific industrial sector such as metals, oil and gas, mining, or chemicals are particularly welcomed.
• Knowledge of other GHG programs (eg VCS, Gold Standard) is welcomed
 
Skills
• The ability to make final decisions on the compliance and quality of CDM validation and verification reports
• Ability to coach others in CDM and associated validation and verification requirements
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Strong analytical, numerical and problem solving skills
• Well organised and able to manage changing priorities, able to work independently and to tight deadlines
• Fluent English speaker with clear and concise written English
 
Experience
• At least 3 years practical CDM auditing or project development experience, including in-depth involvement in project implementation or validation/verification on-site
• Experience in auditing* CDM projects at both validation and verification stages, with involvement in at least 20 CDM projects
• Experience in coaching/mentoring staff
• Strong project management and delivery experience
• Experience of developing tools and templates for GHG programs, and we welcome candidates who are keen to promote and develop GHG validation and verification services in new programs
*This experience may have been gained either as a DOE, or in an equivalent function within
a CDM project development organisation
