EU Policy Intern – IETA

Our organisation is the leading international voice of the business community on the subject of carbon markets, with 160 well-known corporate members from financial sector (e.g. Deutsche Bank,  JP  Morgan)  to  industry  (e.g.  BP,  Toyota,  Dow Chemicals).  IETA  deals  with  EU  and  UN institutions, governments and the private sector around the world to encourage cost-efficient and effective climate change strategies. IETA’s HQ is in Geneva and its main subsidiary offices are in Brussels, Toronto, Washington and Canberra.  

This is a unique opportunity for hard-working, passionate climate leaders to gain real life, hands-on experience, strengthen their understanding of the public policy process, and prepare for future job opportunities.
Period: 3-6 months as soon as possible
Time Commitment: 40 hours per week (part-time possible but not remunerated)
Remuneration: contribution to living costs
Summary of Position: The intern will assist the Brussels office on a range of projects and initiatives involving EU climate and energy legislation, IETA’s media and communications efforts and member outreach.
Profile: The intern should be fluent (written and spoken) in English. He/she should have an academic background in economics, law, political and/or environmental sciences. A good knowledge in EU affairs and a solid understanding of how the European Institutions function is essential. He/she should have excellent communication and networking skills. Good knowledge of MS Office is needed. Preference will be given to those with a background in carbon markets, in particular the EU ETS. Knowledge of French or another European language is an additional asset.
