Forest Carbon Internship Position

Ecosystem Marketplace is seeking an intern to contribute to our forest carbon team beginning July 1.  The intern may be full or part-time (preference for full-time, at least for summer) with an expected duration of three months or longer.  Depending on experience and education, the intern will be paid $10-13/hr.

Ecosystem Marketplace ( is a project of the non-profit organization Forest Trends.  We provide independent news, data, and analytics on conservation activities and environmental markets ranging from aggregating daily news, synthesizing news and events via bi-weekly newsletters, composing feature news articles, and conductingprimary analytical research such as our annual “State of the Markets” reports such as Back to the Future: State of the Voluntary Carbon Markets 2011, which was released this summer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Ã‚ Â Â  Collecting and summarizing news and events on forest carbon for daily news feeds and publication in our bi-weekly Forest Carbon Newsletter; updating project listings and other website items on
•Ã‚ Â Â  Coordinating and maintaining contacts with NGOs, private businesses, and forest carbon project developers
•Ã‚ Â Â  Potential for authoring feature articles on emerging issues relating to environmental markets, science, and policy
•Ã‚ Â Â  Conducting interviews as well as researching, reviewing and possibly drafting sections for State of the Forest Carbon Markets2011 report and a potential complementary report on public and private REDD financing

Desired qualifications:
•Ã‚ Â Â  Interest and familiarity with forest conservation and climate change issues and policy (such as REDD).
•Ã‚ Â Â  Attention to detail with strong research and writing skills.
•Ã‚ Â Â  Spanish, Portuguese and/or French language skills are a plus.
•Ã‚ Â Â  Experience with web publishing (or blogging) and web design is also a plus.
