Mitigation Expert for Low Emissions Development Strategies and/or Carbon Markets Negotiator – Office of Global Change, Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs

: Permanent, equivalent of GS 11-14 level on GS scale

Requirements: advanced degree with relevant background; academic background/experience (public policy, economics, law, related); significant knowledge/experience in climate and/or energy issues7+ years experience (climate change, low-emissions development, and/or carbon markets); demonstrated leadership skills and experience in achieving results in complex organizational situations; outstanding interpersonal/oral communication skills; ability to produce compelling documents under time pressure; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; operate significantly under own initiative, crafting proposals and policy recommendations with minimal guidance; strong team player is eager to help resolve crises as they emerge; work with a wide variety of actors (policymakers, representatives of other governments, business, non‐governmental community); experience in, or exposure to, international negotiations
