Vice President/Broker, Western Environmental Markets

Position Details:

  • Reports to: Head of Western Renewable Energy Markets
  • Location: San Francisco

Position Responsibilities:

This position will be focused primarily on the western renewable energy markets (RECs), and will also support western US emerging markets as appropriate; Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Acting as broker and consultant for European GHG markets.
  • Building a client base of clients, including utilities producers, end-users, commodity clients, banks and funds.
  • Developing and maintaining positive ongoing relationships with customers in a professional manner.
  • Understanding clients’ needs and challenges, and structuring of appropriate solutions.
  • Assisting in team performance through regular communication with colleagues to establish and raise concerns and provide solutions.
  • Maintaining & developing personal knowledge and skills through continued professional development as well as ongoing desk training.
  • Conducting the business of the Company at all times in a courteous and efficient manner.

Position Requirements/Candidate Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of energy or environmental commodities markets and how they are brokered, including 5-10 years demonstrated success in two or more of the following areas:
    • Commodities brokerage (futures, power, carbon, emissions or RECs)
    • Energy/environmental/derivative marketing
    • Institutional brokerage
  • Sales or trading, e.g. with hedge funds or as part of a bank sales and trading team
  • Demonstrated success cultivating customer relationships and excelling in a customer interface role
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, and be a self-starter even in the midst of uncertainty
  • Balance of forward-thinking and critical-thinking skills, coupled with ‘street smarts’ and a keen desire to innovate and excel
  • Sound judgment in assessing market conditions and counseling clients on market execution strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly with complex and changing information

Office Manager/Administrative Assistant – San Francisco

Position Responsibilities: 

Manage office services, to include the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Design and implement office policies and procedures, including filing system, management of office equipment, and ordering/replenishing of office supplies
  • Perform all administrative tasks as and when required, including answering phones, greeting guests, making travel arrangements for office staff, and coordinating calendar scheduling
  • Liaise with headquarters accounting contacts for smooth execution of all bills and invoicing as applicable
  • Manage office correspondence as required
  • Answer and route customer inquiries coming into the brokerage desks, as directed
  • Assist in maintaining client databases and contact details
  • Organize market research and regulatory updates for the team
  • Support desks with trade execution follow-up and administration, to include, but not limited to communication with deal counter-parties to confirm deal terms, and/or liaison with headquarters office operations team on same

Position Requirements/Candidate Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years experience working in a similar role, as an office manager, administrator or trade assistant, ideally in a fast-paced corporate or financial services environment
  • Undergraduate degree
  • An interest in financial markets
  • Ability and willingness to work longer hours as required by the needs of the position, including occasional early mornings and late evenings, if required.
  • Ability to manage deal documents and information to an error-free standard
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage to tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to exhibit calm and confidence when under pressure
  • Highly organized, with keen attention to detail, and a strong work ethic
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc) and standard office equipment (fax, copier, scanning function)
