Program Coordinator

Reports to Vice President Africa Programs

The Program Coordinator is a full-time position located in the JGI USA Arlington, VA office. The Program Coordinator will perform administrative and programmatic tasks in support of the Africa Programs department.


The position requires a highly motivated and capable individual with:


    * Prior experience in managing conservation and/or development projects in developing countries, preferably Africa;

    * Ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of technical and country office staff to design successful projects;

    * Written and oral fluency in English, fluency in French is desirable;

    * College degree, with experience in conservation, natural resource management and/or international development.

Main Responsibilities of the Job

    * Support Program staff in ensuring timely implementation of field programs;

    * Work with the Grants Manager to ensure that donor financial and programmatic requirements are met;

    * Coordinate the preparation of periodic reports to donors, the board and partners;

    * Conduct research, as requested, on Africa Programs related issues, grant proposals, and publications, via library and internet resources;

    * Act as Africa Program’s liaison to the Communications Department, by providing them with stories from the field and other details needed for updating JGI’s web content;

    * Represent the Africa Programs in select meetings and forums;

    * Participate as an integral team member of the proposal application process through research and content development;

    * Support and participate in the annual budgeting and review process for Africa Programs;

    * Provide support to Africa Programs staff as needed;

    * Respond to general inquiries on Africa Programs;

    * Provide daily office administrative tasks, including but not limited to filing and data-entry.
