Candidates should have a Ph.D. in economics, or in engineering/mathematics/physics
coupled with a solid economic background, and experience in applied research on
Land Use, Forestry and Agriculture issues.
The main duties will be related to the global modeling of land use and forestry and its
interface with the integrated assessment analysis of energy and climate policies.
Knowledge of global land use optimization models and experience with bioenergy is
required. Skills in modelling land-forestry-related dynamics either with land use
models or with top down economic models (AEZ approach) will be an important even
though not mandatory asset.
The selected candidate will interact with researchers of different nationalities, and
have the chance to present scientific papers at several conferences and workshops.
Parts of the activities are realized in the context of European research projects. FEEM
offers a truly interdisciplinary workplace, with strong ties with a world-wide network of
research institutions engaged in environmental research and in particular on the
analysis of climate change issues.
The successful candidate is expected to begin his/her assignment in late 2011/early
2012. The appointment period can be up to 3 years, with an evaluation after the first
one. Gross salary is competitive and will be based on qualification and experience.
Duties will be carried out at the FEEM premises either in Milan or Venice, Italy.
