KPMG is looking for Senior Consultants to join us in San Francisco and Chicago – Salary US$75-95k

Ideally, the candidate is based in San Francisco, has an environmental engineering degree, AB 32 experience, ghg reporting and verification experience, and is from or has worked for a while in Europe managing GhG projects and carbon markets.
Key skills needed:
1. AB 32
2. GhG reporting and verification for large utilities and energy clients (prefer candidate with supermajor experience)
3. Carbon/water reduction / offset verification and strategy knowledge (Cap and Trade comprehension)
4. Climate Change regulatory and policy risk management
5. Carbon footprinting
6. Product Life cycle analysis
7. ISO and GRI awareness
8. Environmental Engineering Degree

Position: Senior Consultant – Engineer
Years of Experience: 3-5
Location: Chicago (Midwest)
Travel: 10%-75%
Experienced engineer with extensive experience in energy efficiency and energy management. This individual should also have experience with environmental, health and safety compliance in a manufacturing environment.

Education and Certifications Requirements
• Bachelors of Science in Engineering (preferably mechanical, architectural, or electrical)
• MBA or a Masters in Engineering with coursework in finance is highly desirable
• 3 or more years experience in environmental responsibilities, some of which is within a manufacturing setting.
• A Professional Engineering certification is highly desirable
• CEM or similar ASHRAE certification is required

Specific activities may include:

Energy Efficiency
• Perform energy simulation modeling for industrial plants as well as commercial buildings in conformance with leading standards
• Prepare cost/benefit analysis and conduct feasibility studies for energy efficiency and DSM programs
• Provide technical support and analysis to tax professionals preparing applications for energy related tax incentives
• Conduct performance measurement and data collection of building and industrial energy systems
• Develop and evaluate strategic plans related to technology implementation for utilities, government, and industry
• Communicate solutions and new strategies to clients through reports and presentations
• Provide technical advice and investment analysis in support of projects related to energy efficiency and renewable energy

EHS Compliance
• Advise companies on best management practices for EHS compliance
• Develop and draft policies & procedures for improving environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote sustainability
• Audit, review, or amend permit applications (air, solid waste, waste water, and storm water) permit and conduct internal assessments and gap analysis as needed

Professional Qualifications:
• Working knowledge in the use of environmental & energy management systems
• Familiarity with commissioning of HVAC, and other core mechanical building systems
• Experience with the leading energy efficiency standards and audit standards (ASHRAE 1,2,3) and additional investment grade energy audit standards
• Thorough knowledge & practice with energy efficiency solutions (technological as well as procedural)
• Knowledgeable about renewable energy systems & clean fuel technologies
• Strong technical background in building systems or industrial process technologies
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills
• High degree of self-confidence and determination
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple engagements simultaneously without diminished ability
• Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and slide presentation software.

Additional Qualifications:
• Knowledge of energy related tax incentives
• Experience with ERP systems
• Experience with continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
