Customer Advice Content Manager

This is a content and project management role. It includes owning the advice content delivered to the Carbon Trust’s customers through our website and publications.

Purpose and scope of the role

This is a content and project management role. It includes owning the advice content delivered to the Carbon Trust’s customers through our website and publications.

Main duties and responsibilities

Assisting with the update and implementation of the Customer Advice Strategy, to improve the quality of the advice we disseminate, in order to increase the carbon saving implementation rate of users.

  • Reviewing the Carbon Trust’s content for the Programme Delivery business area – to identify overlaps, inconsistencies, gaps, and new requirements.
  • Creation and collation of content to support new web tools which a) enhance the carbon saving support we provide to SMEs b) allow us to expand our web-based offering into new areas – which may include overseas markets.
  • In partnership with other members of the Customer Advice team, maintaining the existing content within the Cut Carbon & Reduce Costs section of website, and within Carbon Trust publications.
  • Good project management (to time and budget) of:
    o Obtaining new content for both internal and external dissemination from technical contractors, and internal information sources
    o Repurposing existing and new content into different formats (eg transforming publications into web content)
    o Organising external and internal information to disseminate efficiently across different channels (publications, web content and tools, and internally via our intranet)
  • Work with the Carbon Trust’s knowledge management team to ensure relevant content is easily accessible to internal staff when they need it
  • Editorial and quality control for customer advice content, including obtaining internal technical and marketing approval
  • Liaising across the Carbon Trust with key stakeholders and managers & communicating progress to senior management
  • Managing market research to determine customer need for information
  • Writing tender documents and sourcing service providers

Key skills

  • Demonstrate strong project management skills, with evidence of managing projects to tight deadlines and budgets
  • Strong information management skills – organising and analysing information to bring out key findings
  • A sound knowledge of practical energy and carbon saving measures for business. Good knowledge of several energy saving technologies, and experience of working with several different business sectors
  • Good writing and editorial skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills to engage effectively with  staff at all levels
  • Good level of Microsoft Office competence
  • Ideally, experience of procurement

Qualifications and experience

  • Educated to graduate level
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of managing, structuring and having editorial control of information
  • Experience of developing content for both publications and websites
  • Experience using a web content management system desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge or experience in the energy efficiency and carbon management field.
  • Experience of delivering energy efficiency advice directly to customers would be an advantage, either face to face consultancy, or providing advice by phone or e-mail or in written reports.

Supply Chain Consultant, Carbon Trust Advisory

Purpose and scope of the role

The Supply Chain Consultant role works in the Carbon Trust Advisory team. This team delivers strategic advisory services to  the UK’s largest companies
The role’s purpose is to:

  • Sell and deliver projects under the Carbon Trust Advisory service, specialising in, but not limited to, helping businesses transform their supply chains to be lower carbon
  • Help drive the ongoing development of the Carbon Advisory service
  • Lead projects to define our proposition, ambition and plan across significant business sectors
  • Lead Carbon Trust’s engagement (and business development opportunities) with a client’s ‘tier 1’ suppliers
  • Achieve significant utilisation targets

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Leading Carbon Trust advisory client engagements, including: day-to-day management of project team; leading the problem-solving process (e.g. defining complex analyses and deliverables); managing the client relationship; and assuring quality of all analytical and final deliverables
  • Supporting end-to-end sales effort for Carbon Trust advisory projects: identifying and developing target client accounts; creating proposals
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members, taking an active role in their professional development

  • Desirable experience includes waste minimisation, transport & logistics planning, procurement, non-carbon resource efficiency (e.g. water, commodities, biodiversity)


Technical Manager

Provide technical expertise and resource in support of Infrastructure and Service Management function.

Purpose and scope of the role

Provide technical expertise and resource in support of Infrastructure and Service Management function.

Main duties and responsibilities

Support Infrastructure/Service Manager through undertaking day-to-day tasks such as support ticket monitoring and analysis, routine maintenance tasks not covered by outsourced arrangements

Managing specific Infrastructure systems (e.g. video conferencing, mobile telephony) as assigned

Supporting service management by close liaison with support providers, ensuring ongoing effort to resolve issues

Providing immediate technical support to resolve issues as appropriate (coordinating with the outsourced service provider(s) and suppliers as necessary)

Identifying and taking appropriate actions to address actual or imminent technical issues within the infrastructure

Liaison with the Service Desk on a frequent, regular basis to manage support queue, chasing resolver groups, suppliers and internal resource as necessary to ensure resolution within SLA

Project activities as assigned in both application and infrastructure projects, including potentially taking the lead in smaller infrastructure projects

Reviewing routine reports on infrastructure and security health, flagging issues for management attention

Undertaking infrastructure project and maintenance implementation tasks as directed, in compliance with established processes and procedures and liaising with appropriate service providers

Qualifications and experience

Required skills and experience:

  • Appropriate technical qualification – e.g. MCSE

  • 2-3 years experience in a technical support role for general IT infrastructure (WINTEL environment)
  • Good capabilities with MS Office, including technical aspects (e.g. VBA)

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience in 1st or 2nd line support in a formal Help desk structure
  • Service management experience
  • Relevant technical experience (e.g. CISCO telephony, CISCO LAN hardware, MS SharePoint)
  • IT security experience and/or qualification
  • ITIL qualification

Analyst (Business Systems)
 

To support, administer and manage Applications in the Business Systems Portfolio, ensuring best business fit and maximising the business value of the system across its entire life-cycle

Purpose and scope of the role

To support, administer and manage Applications in the Business Systems Portfolio, ensuring best business fit and maximising the business value of the system across its entire life-cycle

Main duties and responsibilities

For each application assigned to the individual:

  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge of the use of the application from both the business and technical perspectives, and develop and maintain the associated documentation
  • Support, administer and manage incidents and problems in the assigned applications through the application of knowledge and skills and the management of third-parties
  • Identify, measure, monitor and report on business value
  • Monitor, analyse and promote utilisation
  • Share best practice and organise/deliver user training as required
  • Engage with the user community and develop strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Work with the Programme Office and Management Team to establish a roadmap for application development
  • Manage vendors and other third parties relevant to the application to ensure service levels are maintained and to deliver continuous commercial value.
  • Assess impacts of, and facilitate and manage, change
  • Lead business and system process improvements and application enhancements
  • Management of ad hoc contract staff where workloads demand additional resource

Required experience:

  • Appropriate experience in a similar IT role or as a Business Analyst or in a Customer Service capacity in the provision of IT support services.
  • Appropriate experience of creating application documentation, user guides, e-learning content and training users
  • Appropriate experience of multi-user business applications
  • Appropriate experience of business process analysis, mapping and re-engineering
  • Appropriate experience with Microsoft based server architecture
  • Working knowledge of client / server systems architecture
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP based network architecture
