VP, Sales & Marketing – Offsetters

Offsetters is currently seeking a VP Sales and Marketing to lead a team that maintains our existing clients, and to build a strong pipeline of new clients in the North American market.

The VP Sales and Marketing is a key member of the Senior Leadership team with direct responsibility for marketing, client engagement and sales. The position will be responsible for building and implementing a sales strategy to generate sales of carbon management solutions and high-quality carbon offsets. The VP is also responsible for growing and maintaining our existing client relationships, which includes over 100 leading companies in North America, helping them build brand equity through leadership in carbon management and sustainability. Enhancing partner and client relationships, identifying product enhancements and advancing brand awareness and equity are also integral to the position.
  • Identifying, qualifying and developing relationships with leading organizations through use of business and social networks, events and contacts
  • Growing and maintaining long lasting relationships with key customers;
  • Negotiating and closing integrated carbon management solution and offset sales
  • Developing and executing strategic marketing plans
  • As a member of the senior leadership team have shared responsibility for the overall leadership and management of Offsetters
  • Actively participating in organizational strategic planning with direct responsibility for sales and marketing objectives and strategies
  • As required, acting as a spokesperson for the company with the media
  • Managing sales and marketing resources
  • Developing and executing sales forecasts
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Sales, marketing or business development background with experience in managing solution sales cycle processes, and a track record of successfully closing deals.
  • Experience working in a consultative manner to understand client needs and provide solutions
  • Understanding of climate change and sustainability issues and the benefits for organizations to develop comprehensive carbon management and programs including the use of carbon offsets
  • MBA, or degree in Business or Marketing preferred
  • Excellent verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong sales, negotiation and closing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Minimum fifteen years related experience with at least 10 years of experience in an executive level position leading sales and marketing
  • Well rounded in all aspects of marketing and sales methodologies to business customers with an emphasis on relationship development and cultivation
  • Sales, marketing or business development experience in carbon credits, sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility consulting, or custom software solutions
  • Previous experience with carbon offset sales and carbon management programs
  • Knowledge and understanding of the voluntary carbon markets and the key factors driving offset purchaser requirements
  • Ability to articulate and demonstrate the benefits of lifecycle inventories, environmental reporting and carbon neutral products
