Position: Uganda Water Implementation Manager

Impact Carbon generates carbon emission reductions from householdenergy projects that improve living conditions in the less‐developed communities we serve. Typical Impact Carbon projects involve scaling the sales and distribution of efficient appliances such as healthy 
cookstoves and water treatment devices. Impact Carbon works with investors, project developers,
philanthropists and NGOs to quantify the carbon emissions reduced by our projects and to verify them to
rigorous carbon standards.
Impact Carbon is headquartered in San Francisco, California with an office in Kampala, Uganda. This position is 
based in Kampala. 
Impact Carbon is seeking a Water Implementation Manager to assist in Impact Carbon’s project operations, administration, and marketing efforts in Uganda. The Water Implementation Manager’s tasks will include working directly with the Impact Carbon Uganda team to set up local assembly and distribution for water treatment products and will report to the Uganda Country Manager.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Identify manufacturing and assembly partners for water treatment products and assist with
recordkeeping, and financial systems and processes 
• Assess and research potential water treatment products based performance 
• Manage relationships with local distribution partners for water treatment products
• Conduct market feasibility assessments of various water treatment products to assess viability of sales and inform marketing strategies 
• Assist in the development and implementation of marketing and sales strategies to increase awareness, demand, and sales of water purification devices
• Complete administrative tasks such as data entry and document scanning as needed 
• Participate in regular recordkeeping and financial reporting procedures necessary to ensure proper monitoring and evaluation for carbon verification
Job Responsibilities:
• Help with local manufacturer capacity building activities and general operations and ensuring compliance with carbon guidelines
 Materials procurement and/or importation tasks
 Product quality control
 Identification of manufacturing limitations and/or issues and implementation of solutions to increase capacity and efficiency
 Monitoring and evaluation of carbon requirements
• Assist in the development and implementation of a broad marketing and sales strategy for water products and water purifiers
 Help the Uganda Sales Manager establish new distribution channels and sales strategies that reach all segments of the Ugandan market
 Develop effective, targeted awareness and marketing campaigns that demonstrate the health, environmental, and financial benefits of the products we promote
 Assist the Uganda Country Manager in the development and growth of partnerships with local and international NGOs, bilateral agencies, and other relevant organizations
• Complete administrative work, as needed, for both the carbon verification process and general office needs. This work will include, but is not limited to:
 Data entry
 Scanning documents
 Creating and editing documents
 Communications including emails and phone calls
• Work with the Uganda Country Manager to develop a marketing and branding strategy to increase 
consumer knowledge and uptake of products
 Utilize and build upon institutional knowledge of stove sales and create a marketing strategy 
for water filtration products
 Leverage current marketing partnerships with local and international NGOs to coordinate 
marketing campaigns and hold sales events
 Use focus groups and consumer research to develop new and innovative marketing messages 
• Work with the Uganda Sales Manager to manage the financial, operational, and logistical components 
of selling consumer goods, including stringent documentation for carbon finance reporting
 Develop a financial and accounting system that efficiently captures costs and sales revenue 
and allows for rigorous accountability
 Manage product supply chain details and make help logistical arrangements for sales trips and 
marketing events
 Oversee operational tasks including: product storage, transportation, importation of goods
 Ensure proper and thorough documentation for carbon finance reporting, such as excellent 
sales records, complete receipts and customer warranty cards
Qualifications and Experience:
• Degree in business (accounting, finance or marketing), economics, or industrial relations
• Fluency in both written and spoken English
• 3‐5+ years of work experience 
• Familiarity with designing and conducting consumer research or market analysis programs or a 
background in social science research a plus
• Strong business and financial experience with excellent quantitative and analytical skills
• History of managing new and growing programs or substantial client management experience preferred 
• Preference given to candidates with experience in water, sanitation, or household goods programs 
and/or sales

• Experience in clean water initiatives and knowledge of water technology
• Highly ambitious individual who can take initiative on new projects and demonstrate strong leadership 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• High level of creativity and the desire to develop new, innovative programs
• Superior relationship management skills and the ability to hold external parties accountable to tight 
deadlines and regulatory requirements
• Passion for Impact Carbon’s programs and mission, including international health, environmental 
protection, and poverty alleviation 
Compensation: Depending on experience.
